Following President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s directive, the Department of Health (DOH) has deployed an emergency medical team to Bicol to support response efforts in the areas affected by Typhoon Kristine. The first batch from Metro Manila arrived in Naga Tuesday on a C-130 aircraft, while additional teams from Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas are expected today.
DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa previously stated the department’s readiness to send more personnel to Bicol, trained specifically for emergency response.
The initial team consists of doctors, nurses, nurse attendants, and ambulance drivers from the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center. They will assist health workers at Naga City General Hospital. Later tonight, additional medical personnel from East Avenue Medical Center, Valenzuela Medical Center, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, and Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital are expected, with assignments at the Bicol Regional General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center.
Staff from Tondo Medical Center are also scheduled to arrive tonight to support Naga City General Hospital. Additionally, representatives from the Eastern Visayas Medical Center will travel via RORO, arriving tomorrow, October 29, to further bolster Naga’s medical resources.
In total, 91 DOH medical personnel from various regions across the country have been deployed to the Bicol region.
