DOT – Region 3 celebrates Filipino Food Month with FOOD TALKS 2023

Department of Tourism – Region 3 celebrates Filipino Food Month with FOOD TALKS 2023, an event that salutes the Filipino Culinary Identity.

Featured resource persons on Food Talks 2023, which happens at Best Western Plus Metro Clark Hotel on Wednesday, 26 April, are Chef Jam R. Melchor, Chef Heinz D. Pelayo, Chef Howard D. Dizon and Lensman Ruston O. Banal, Jr.

Chef Jam Melchor, founder of the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement, will discuss ‘Filipinos Embracing Slow Food.”

Chef Heinz D. Pelayo, Culinary Arts Program Chair at Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila, will discuss “Mas Masarap ang Luto ng Nanay Ko: Similarities and Differences among Regional Filipino Food.

Chef Howard Dizon, Proprietor of Diosdado Restaurant, tackles “Handa Ka Na Ba?: How to Start A Restaurant Business”.

Meanwhile, lensman Ruston O. Banal, Jr., three-time recipient of the NCCA Ani ng Dangal Awards, will delve on “Capturing that Tasteful Heirloom: Culinary Heritage Through the Lens”.

FOOD TALKS, according to Department of Tourism – Region 3, aims to serve as a “platform for tourism stakeholders, culinary experts, academicians, and industry professionals to come together and discuss the important role that fool plays in our cultural heritage.”

During this event, DOT – Region 3, as part of its commitment to the preservation of culinary heritage for the future generation, will also conduct the ceremonial turnover of the Food Mapping outputs to Pampanga, Bulacan, CHED, and DepEd.

There will also be a mini food photo exhibit at Food Talks 2023.
