Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the rehabilitation of a local bridge at barangay San Matias Quilo in Guagua, Pampanga. According to residents, the old bridge had significant defects and deteriorated over time, posing a safety risk to pedestrians and motorists.

Tribike driver Felix Capulong said the new bridge is now sturdier compared to the old one.

“Those who pass through it now benefit from the widened and improved structure,” he added.

For this part, Pampanga 2nd District Engineer Gregorio Audea Jr. said DPWH recognized the need for improved safety that’s why it programmed the replacement with a more durable and secure structure.

“Hearing them appreciate the safety and convenience these infrastructures bring ignites our spirit of public service even more,” he added.

The P9.8-million bridge was funded under the General Appropriation Act of 2023.

It spans 10 linear meters and can now accommodate heavier loads while also improving access to San Matias Quilo from the Guagua-Sta. Rita-Porac Road. (PIA 3)
