DTI Tarlac Trade-Industry Development Specialist Wessa Dizon said Christmas lights are included in the Bureau of Product Standards’ list of products under mandatory certification.

“Consumers and sellers may verify the authenticity of the ICC stickers in Christmas lights through the verification app that may be downloaded via Google Play Store or Apple App Store,” he furthered.

A total of six establishments were monitored and were found to be compliant through presentation of copies of the Product Standard Certificates and Licenses.

Moreover, DTI monitored their compliance with Article 81 of Republic Act No. 7394 otherwise known as the price tag requirement in goods and services..

Meanwhile, TCCI President Casiano Supan reminds consumers to only purchase Christmas lights that bear the PS mark or the ICC sticker for guaranteed product safety and quality. (PIA 3)
