The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) held a four-day training for young individuals in Tarlac to stir their entrepreneurial interest and to encourage them to start their business ventures.

The training under the Youth Entrepreneurship Program dubbed as YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss (YEP! BYOB) was participated by about 27 young Tarlaqueรฑos.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said that YEP! BYOB targets to develop and support more young entrepreneurs by improving their business skills through comprehensive package interventions.

โ€œThis program aims to inspire more young adults, especially those currently engaged in business, to be more passionate, and to appreciate the beauty of being the boss of their own company,โ€ she stressed.

She explained that YEP! BYOB follows a standardized course outline of four business modules covering a total of 19 topics, and culminates with a Business Pitch Competition.

Moreover, it utilizes participatory, activity-based, and learner-centered approaches in honing the business skills and mindset of the participants.

Angel Marquez, one of the participants, highlighted the importance of the training in boosting her business which could bring a positive impact to the growth and development of the local economy.

โ€œThe program greatly helped my business by broadening my understanding of operating it efficiently and properly managing my sales. I want to thank DTI for promoting this program. It has inspired many young people to become entrepreneurs and pursue the business they wish to start,โ€ Marquez added.

DTI will assist the young entrepreneurs from the creation to development of their businesses through its services.

YEP! BYOB Curriculum is an adaptation of the Educational Development Centerโ€™s Work Ready Now and Be Your Own Boss programs, and the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Programโ€™s Design Thinking for Entrepreneurship. (PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
