Former Balubad residents to be relocated in Magalang

Some 535 families, who were forced to flee the 73-hectare land reclaimed by Clarkhills Properties Corporation in Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas, Angeles City, may be accommodated in a 3-hectare area in Magalang town.

This was announced by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., who added that these families were identified in the recent mapping undertaken by the Angeles LGU.

Mayor Lazatin said each beneficiary in the relocation site in Magalang town will have a 45-square-meter lot, a move that would finally allow them to own their lots.

Mayor Lazatin said the city government is now preparing for the relocation of the affected families.

“Katulad po ng nasabi ko noon, hindi ko po iiwanan ang mga naapektuhang residente ng Sitio Balubad,” said Mayor Lazatin.

Councilor Pogs Suller said water and electricity connections will be immediately installed once the identified beneficiaries relocated in Magalang town, which is part of the First Congressional District of Pampanga.

The Clarkhills Properties Corporation took over Sitio Balubad in March and installed checkpoints at every entry point to the property.

Mayor Lazatin had offered P70 million to buy two hectares from Clarkhills for the relocation of the Sitio Balubad residents but to no avail which prompted the Angeles LGU to find another location in Magalang town.
