In a landmark partnership, Gamat Kapampangan Artist Consumers Cooperative and Converge ICT, hosted the “Unang Yakap” Art Auction at the Garden Wing Ballroom of Edsa Shangri-La. The occasion brought together art lovers and advocates for a meaningful cause.
This inspiring event supports mothers and children receiving care from Caritas Manila, with special focus on the Baseco community in Tondo.
With the theme “Unang Yakap,” or “First Embrace,” the auction emphasized the critical role of nurturing and support during a child’s early development.
The exhibit showcased a stunning collection of artworks by Gamat Kapampangan artists, each piece echoing the cultural richness and artistry of the Kapampangan heritage.
A portion of the auction proceeds will fund Caritas Manila’s programs supporting maternal and child health. These initiatives stress the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life—from conception to the age of two—as a pivotal window for health, cognitive growth, and emotional resilience. In Baseco, many mothers face challenges in securing nutrition, healthcare, and education for their children, making the auction’s support essential in addressing these needs.
