Globe backs National Reforestation Drive, aims to plant 5-M trees by 2028

In a strong show of commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action, Globe has joined the private sector’s support for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) “Forests for Life: 5M Trees by 2028” initiative. The program aims to rehabilitate degraded forest areas across the country, including in Ilocos Norte, Rizal, Leyte, Bataan, Bukidnon, and Lanao del Norte.

“Protecting the environment requires consistent action and collaboration,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “Through our climate programs and partnerships, we are making sustainability more accessible to communities and empowering individuals to make a positive impact.”

As part of its contribution, Globe will participate in reforestation efforts, community engagement, and other forms of support to help ensure the success of the national greening initiative.

This move aligns with Globe’s broader sustainability efforts, which include a shift to renewable energy in high-consumption facilities, adoption of energy-efficient network technologies, and the use of electric vehicle shuttles for employees. It also echoes the company’s advocacy for simple, everyday habits that promote energy conservation—such as turning off non-essential lights, unplugging devices, and taking the stairs.

The initiative was launched in line with this year’s Earth Hour, where Globe urged Filipinos to go beyond the symbolic one-hour lights-off gesture and embrace long-term sustainable practices.

Rooted in its mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build climate resilience, Globe continues to pursue partnerships with government, NGOs, and the public to drive environmental progress.
