Globe’s senior executives were at the forefront of discussions on digital transformation during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. The event saw Globe actively engaging in dialogues and collaborations aimed at driving innovation to address key challenges in emerging markets like the Philippines.
MWC, the world’s leading ICT event, gathered industry leaders to advance business and societal development. Globe CEO Ernest Cu, Deputy CEO Carl Cruz, and other senior leaders participated in a packed week of interactions with global telecommunications leaders, focusing on the most pressing issues in the industry.

Cu signed a Memorandum of Understanding with other Philippine telco operators on the deployment of federated CAMARA APIs under GSMA’s Open Gateway initiative, which will enhance security measures against fraud. This partnership aims to enable easier creation and expansion of digital solutions across telco networks, benefiting fintech, e-commerce, and digital services by transforming telecom networks into accessible platforms for developers.
“Globe remains committed to advancing digital innovation while prioritizing customer security. This partnership represents a significant step in improving fraud prevention and identity verification in the Philippines,” Cu said.
Cu also participated in his first GSMA Board Meeting, where he highlighted Globe’s best practices in combating digital scams and fraud.
At the GTI Summit 2025, Cruz shared his insights on how 5G-A×AI is shaping the future of connectivity. The Summit focused on the 5G-A×AI 100 Commercial Campaign, aiming to engage over 100 partners and develop groundbreaking projects over the next three years.
“Globe is focused on strengthening connectivity and driving inclusive growth through initiatives like JuanSim ng Bayan, expanding 5G access, and making fiber internet more affordable. We aim to build a future where every Filipino benefits from AI-driven innovation,” Cruz said.
Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Globe’s Chief Privacy Officer and VP for Governance, Risk, and Compliance, spoke at the GSMA SEC CON 2025, detailing the company’s proactive approach to combatting digital scams and fraud.
“Fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated. We are working closely with financial institutions, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to prevent scams before they reach consumers,” said Salandanan-Almeida.
Globe’s efforts in cybersecurity were further highlighted by Anton Bonifacio, the company’s Chief Information Security Officer and Chief AI Officer, who spoke at various side events. Bonifacio shared that Globe was the first telco globally to block all person-to-person SMS with clickable links, a security measure implemented in 2022 to combat scams.
Additionally, Globe has established data-sharing agreements with major banks and financial institutions to improve fraud detection and response. The company is also exploring AI-driven cybersecurity strategies to tackle sophisticated cyber threats.
“Our fight against fraud and cyber threats is relentless. By combining technology, intelligence sharing, and proactive security, we’re building a safer digital ecosystem for our customers,” Bonifacio said.
Rebecca Eclipse, Globe’s Chief Transformation and Operations Officer, presented on transforming operational models to enhance customer experience. She explained how Globe has streamlined its processes and adopted a customer-centric approach, resulting in faster site deployment and improved network coverage.
“We are not using a one-size-fits-all strategy. We must understand the unique needs of each territory to deliver the best experience,” Eclipse said.
In the MOU Signing Ceremony, Globe reinforced its commitment to collaborating with global industry leaders to promote AI and cybersecurity.
Darius Delgado, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the company’s focus on digital inclusion, network expansion, and strategic partnerships to ensure its services are relevant and impactful for all Filipinos.
“We are committed to delivering meaningful experiences that go beyond connectivity. By optimizing efficiency, personalizing services through AI, and unlocking new growth opportunities, we empower individuals and communities,” Delgado said.
Globe’s presence at MWC 2025 highlights its leadership in the Philippine telecom sector and its critical role in driving digital transformation and inclusion in the country.
