Globe restores services, expands relief efforts in earthquake-hit Cebu

Globe has ramped up its emergency response following the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck near Bogo City, Northern Cebu, on September 30, working with local authorities and partner groups to restore connectivity and deliver critical relief support.

“Globe stands with Cebu and Visayas in this difficult time. Our teams are on the ground to restore services, ensuring affected families receive the relief and connectivity they need to recover and reconnect,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.

Globe has fully normalized services in Bohol, Iloilo, Leyte, and Negros Occidental, as well as in Aklan, Antique, Biliran, Capiz, Guimaras, Negros Oriental, and Western Samar. Restoration in Masbate and Samar is also nearing completion. In the hardest-hit areas of Bogo City, Daanbantayan, and San Remigio, Cebu, 72.97% of local network services have already been restored, with full recovery underway.

To support affected residents, Globe activated ‘Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi’ (LTLCW) sites across Cebu, including Bogo City, San Remigio, Daanbantayan, and Medellin, providing free calls, charging stations, and internet access.

The telco also rolled out customer relief measures:

  • Globe Prepaid and TM users received free unlimited calls and texts to all networks, plus mobile data for apps, Facebook, and Viber.
  • Globe Postpaid and GFiber Postpaid subscribers were granted extended payment due dates.
  • Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi customers received free 5GB data for three days.
  • GFiber Prepaid users were given a three-day promo extension.

Customers may also donate Globe Rewards points or via GCash to Ayala Foundation through the GlobeOne app to aid ongoing relief operations.

Globe urged residents to remain alert for aftershocks and follow advisories from PHIVOLCS and local authorities, assuring continued monitoring and timely updates on the situation.
