Globe strengthens Child Online Protection for Safer Internet Day 2026

Online safety remains a pressing concern as digital access grows, and the threat of child exploitation continues to rise. In observance of Safer Internet Day 2026, Globe is intensifying efforts to protect children and families in the Philippines from online sexual abuse and exploitation.

This year’s theme, “Ako, Ikaw, Tayo: Konektado at Protektado Laban sa OSAEC at CSAEM” (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material), underscores Globe’s commitment to the principle that internet safety is everyone’s responsibility.

“Safety in the digital space requires action on all fronts,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “We protect our customers through advanced filtering, real-time threat blocking, and easy-to-use reporting tools like the Globe StopSpam portal. But true protection also means education—giving every Filipino, especially the youth, the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and speak up online.”

Through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), Globe reached over 16,560 students and educators in 2025 alone, providing hands-on workshops on digital citizenship, privacy, and child protection. Since its launch in 2016, DTP has engaged nearly 2 million Filipino students nationwide.

Beyond awareness campaigns, Globe has strengthened its digital defenses. In 2025, the company blocked 967 million scam and spam messages, deactivated 272,746 SIM cards via its StopSpam portal, and took down 17,384 malicious domains, including 8,704 illegal gambling sites.

Child protection remains a core priority. Globe blocked 3,096 domains linked to child pornography and exploitation, supported by a US$2.7 million investment in advanced content-filtering technologies. The company also supports the MAKABATA 1383 helpline, operated by the Council for the Welfare of Children, to improve reporting of online abuse and child rights violations.

Through these initiatives, Globe continues its #MakeITSafe advocacy, combining cybersecurity and education to create a digital environment where children can explore, learn, and connect safely.
