Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) of Pampanga and members of the Provincial Peace and Order and Anti-Drug Abuse Councils of Pampanga, led the awarding of “Gawad Payapa Award” to deserving local government units (LGUs) in the province.
The Municipal Government of Arayat led by Mayor Maria Lourdes Alejandrino secured the first place for Component Cities and 1st to 2nd Class Municipalities, with Candaba landing in the second place, while Guagua was awarded the third place.
The town of San Luis led by Mayor Jayson Sagum also received the 1st place in the 3rd to 5th Class Municipalities category, while Sta. Rita and Bacolor were awarded the second and third place, respectively.
The governor acknowledged the LGUs that excelled in implementing programs for peace and order and the campaign against illegal drugs.
Dubbed “Gawad Kayapaan Awards,” the program aims to recognize LGUs that have showcased unified efforts and commitment to attain lasting peace, ensuring safety and security among Kapampangans.
The awarding ceremony coincided with the Pampanga Peace and Order Council Meeting on November 9 at Kingsborough Convention Center. The Governor was joined by PML President and Apalit Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr., and DILG Provincial Director Myra Soriano during the awarding.
Governor Delta emphasized the important role of peace and order in attracting investment and fostering economic growth.
“Walang papasok na investor, walang mag-iinvest kung magulo at walang katahimikan sa barangay at sa bayan. Hindi ho maganda yun kaya importanteng-importante po ang peace and order sa ating lalawigan,” he said.
Awardees received DILG certificates and cash prizes from the provincial government. The governor plans to increase the prizes next year to encourage towns to develop exemplary peace and order programs.
