‘Habagat’ to continue to bring rains over parts of Luzon

Several areas in Luzon will continue to experience rain showers caused by the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the weather bureau said Wednesday.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.

Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are likely in the Cordillera region, Central Luzon, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Obet Badrina said Severe Tropical Storm Ampil, last tracked 1,895 km. east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility does not enhance the “habagat.”

Ampil does not have a direct effect on any part of the country and is moving away, he added.

Meanwhile, the country is forecast to experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas still prevail across the archipelago, PAGASA said. (PNA)
