The Angeles City government provided hygiene kits to some 1,850 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology today, March 12.

The Angeles City Gender and Development Office, headed by Mina Cabiles, led the turnover of the hygiene kits for 1,600 male and 250 female PDLs to JSupt. Manolet Datan, JSInsp Cecilia Tamayo, JInsp. Julius Alcaraz, SJ04 Caroline Sanchez, JO2 Arthur Paoay, JO2 Maria Boucher, and JO1 Erickson Balao-as.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. wants to ensure the health and welfare of the people inside the jail, while also promoting environment-friendly materials.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel detailed that each hygiene kit contained toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, face towel, and bath soap (plus washable sanitary napkins for females).

“We are encouraging the use of washable sanitary napkins because they are environment-friendly and healthier to use,” Manuel shared.

Meanwhile, GAD Officer Cabiles said “Our city government wishes to promote proper hygiene and raise awareness on how communities can protect themselves.”
