JUST IN: Leon strengthens into a typhoon

Leon (international name Kong-rey) strengthens into a typhoon, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 130 km. per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 160 kph.

The typhoon was last traced at 590 km. east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, 29 October 2024.
