Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon has successfully resolved five major right-of-way (ROW) issues hampering the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) in a record four months, breaking a three-year delay in the project’s progress.
Speaking to One News, Dizon credited the achievement to the Department of Transportation’s Right-of-Way and Site Acquisition team, led by Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas of Angeles City, whom he described as “hands-on” and fully committed to addressing ROW concerns.
“We are very happy with her,” Dizon said, noting Calaguas’s crucial role in fast-tracking the process.
Since assuming office on February 26, 2025, Dizon has pushed key transport improvements, including faster MRT and LRT services and the rollout of cashless payment systems.
The 33-kilometer MMSP, now under construction, will be the country’s first underground rapid transit line, with completion targeted for 2031.
