LÉGUAN TAPANG: BEAUTY AND BRAVERY IN KAPAMPANGAN WOMANHOOD

In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Gamat Kapampangan Art Group unveiled its latest visual art exhibit, ‘Léguan Tapang: Beauty and Bravery in Kapampangan Womanhood’, on March 2 at the ground level of SM City Clark.

Running until March 31, 2026, the exhibit, which is staged in partnership with the Angeles City Government, through the Angeles City Gender and Development Office and SM City Clark, pays tribute to the strength, grace, and courage of Kapampangan women—portraying them not merely as icons of beauty, but as pillars of the home and community. Through various artistic styles and interpretations, the collection highlights women as resilient figures and the quiet force behind many successes in family and society.

The opening program gathered artists, mall patrons, and supporters of the local art scene. Special messages were delivered by Jonathan David on behalf of Angeles City Gender and Development Officer Atty. Kercee Lazatin-Carlos, SM City Clark Assistant Mall Manager Grace Gavino, and Gamat Kapampangan Art Group President Ar. Edwin Catli. Each speaker underscored the importance of honoring women’s contributions and providing platforms that celebrate their stories through art.

The exhibit features works from a diverse roster of Kapampangan artists: Angelo Naguit, Nico Tulabut, Dan Viray, Alvin Dungca, Joanna Yap Cabrera, Elizabeth Sison, Jade L. Dominguez, Gretchen “Chen” Taruc, Aurelio Q. De Guzman, Rolly Suba, Amewin Samia, Maricar Yabut-Sangalang, Billy F. Sangalang, Lani Joy Mercado, Daisy Ramos, Andy Ramos, Arnel D. Garcia, Ailyn Gonzales, Percie Guzman, Jojoy Buan Zabala, Edu Perreras, and Pj David.

Together, their pieces form a vibrant narrative of womanhood—capturing tenderness and tenacity, vulnerability and valor. Some artworks reflect everyday scenes of motherhood and labor, while others elevate women as cultural bearers and symbols of empowerment.

More than a showcase of talent, Léguan Tapang stands as a collective statement: that Kapampangan women embody both beauty and bravery, and that their stories deserve to be seen, told, and celebrated.

As National Women’s Month unfolds, the exhibit invites the public to pause, reflect, and honor the enduring spirit of women who shape communities—often quietly, yet powerfully.
