Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo recently led the distribution of financial grants aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in the city. During the distribution, 50 active women from various cooperatives received a total of P1 million in assistance, with each recipient granted P20,000.
The event was facilitated by the City Cooperative Office, underscoring the city government’s continued commitment to promoting gender equality and supporting local businesses. Mayor Garbo highlighted the importance of empowering women in economic development. “Investing in our women is investing in our future. These grants are not just financial support; they are a step towards self-sufficiency and economic independence,” Mayor Garbo said during the ceremony.
The financial grants aim to strengthen the livelihood programs of these cooperatives, which span a variety of sectors, including food production, retail, and transport. The support will enable the recipients to expand their businesses, purchase essential equipment, and improve their operations and strategies.
City Cooperative Officer Jaycee Marucut emphasized the value of supporting women-led initiatives, noting the positive impact these grants will have on the local economy. “These grants are designed to uplift women in our city, providing them with the resources needed to thrive and contribute to the local economy. We are committed to strengthening the cooperative spirit among our kababayans,” Marucut said.
The initiative has received positive feedback from the recipients, many of whom expressed deep gratitude for the support. The grant distribution is part of the city government’s broader commitment to fostering inclusive growth, gender equality, and sustainable development.
Mayor Garbo reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting local businesses and enhancing the quality of life for all Mabalacat residents. “Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Mabalacat City,” he concluded.
