Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has issued a directive to the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) to resolve a series of robberies targeting Korean nationals within 48 hours.
In a memorandum dated December 28, 2024, Acting City Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, on behalf of Mayor Lazatin, instructed ACPO Director PCOL. Amado Mendoza Jr. to prioritize the investigation and resolution of incidents reported between November and December this year.
The robberies are reportedly carried out by a four-man gang riding motorcycles and armed with pistols.
“These incidents are unacceptable, especially during a season when our community should feel safe and secure,” Mayor Lazatin emphasized. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents and visitors alike. The police force must act swiftly to hold these perpetrators accountable.”
Vega-Cabigting echoed the urgency of safeguarding both locals and foreign nationals in Angeles City.
“The safety of everyone in our city is our top priority,” she said, adding that the ACPO must submit an update on its progress within the specified timeframe.
To deter further crimes, Vega-Cabigting also called for heightened police visibility in crowded areas and business establishments.
This directive follows Mayor Lazatin’s earlier order to address robberies near the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC). These crimes have affected nurses and small business owners, particularly during the holiday season.
Vega-Cabigting assured the city government’s dedication to protecting RLMMC employees and nearby establishments, reiterating its commitment to maintaining public safety.
