Mayor Cris Garbo led the distribution of NEGO CARTS to 19 women beneficiaries from various barangays of Mabalacat City.

The NEGO CART for the Urban Poor Women Sector, a project funded by the Urban Poor Affairs Office-Gender and Development (UPAO-GAD), aims to empower women from the urban poor sector by providing them with opportunities for sustainable livelihood and economic independence.  The beneficiaries were carefully chosen based on their economic status and their potential to effectively utilize the resources provided to them.

The Nego Cart is a mobile cart equipped with merchandise and goods for small-scale vending activities. 

Mayor Cris Garbo expressed his commitment to supporting the marginalized sectors of society, particularly women who often face greater challenges in accessing economic opportunities. He emphasized the importance of empowering women to become self-reliant and financially stable, as this not only benefits the individuals themselves but also contributes to the overall development of the community.

The UPAO revealed plans to establish an Urban Poor Women’s Cooperative in the near future. This cooperative shall support and empower urban poor women by providing them with a platform for collective decision-making, resource-sharing, and skills development.
