Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) has reactivated its Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko (SMSK) motorist assistance program to ensure safe and convenient travel during the upcoming Undas holiday. With an anticipated increase in traffic volume across its expressways—NLEX, SCTEX, NLEX Connector, CALAX, and CCLEX—MPTC is prepared to assist motorists through enhanced measures.
To facilitate a smooth travel experience, MPTC will deploy emergency and medical incident response teams strategically throughout the expressways. From 6 AM on October 31 to 6 AM on November 4, the company will also offer free towing services for Class 1 vehicles up to the nearest exit. Additionally, all roadworks and lane closures will be suspended during this period, except for emergency safety repairs.
Plan Your Trip Ahead, Travel During Non-Peak Hours
Motorists are encouraged to plan their trips in advance and utilize the MPT DriveHub app for traffic updates, toll fee calculations, RFID account reloading, and emergency roadside assistance.
Given the expected high traffic volume, particularly on NLEX, travelers should anticipate heavy northbound congestion on October 31 from 6 AM to 10 PM and November 1 from 5 AM to 2 PM. For those heading to Manila, expect significant traffic on November 2 from 3 PM to 10 PM and November 3 from 2 PM to November 4 at 8 AM.
As part of the MVP Group’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience during Undas, Maynilad will distribute bottles of drinking water to travelers at SMSK motorist camps, ensuring hydration on the road. Meanwhile, mWell, the Philippines’ first fully integrated health and wellness mega app, will set up booths in rest and refuel areas along the expressways to provide health consultations. Additionally, Smart will offer free internet access and charging stations in select areas to help motorists stay connected.
Be Expressway-Ready
To ensure a safe journey, motorists should not only be physically and mentally prepared but also ensure their vehicles are in good condition. A functional RFID sticker is crucial for a smooth trip. With the busy holiday season approaching, MPTC urges drivers to replace old RFID stickers at the nearest Easytrip station or Customer Service Centers to avoid inconveniences.
“MPTC encourages motorists to be expressway-ready by ensuring sufficient load in their RFID accounts for a hassle-free journey. Let’s drive responsibly so we can all arrive at our destinations safely and spend more time with our loved ones,” said MPTC President and CEO Rogelio L. Singson.
