MPTC hosts 3rd Transport Conference

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the Philippines’ premier toll road developer and operator, reaffirmed its commitment to progress, sustainability, and road safety at its 3rd Transport Conference. Held on November 14, 2024, at The Golden Ballroom of Okada Manila, the event brought together key industry stakeholders to discuss the future of transportation.

The conference, a flagship initiative of MPTC, provided a platform for collaboration among leaders from the country’s top bus and trucking organizations, jeepney associations, and UV Express groups. Featuring expert discussions, presentations, and panel sessions, the event tackled pressing topics such as digital transformation, sustainable mobility, disaster risk prevention, infrastructure trends, and community engagement.

Among the esteemed speakers were Senator Raffy Tulfo, Chair of the Senate Committees on Public Services and Migrant Workers; Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista; and His Excellency Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin, Ambassador of Denmark to the Philippines and Palau.

Senator Tulfo underscored the importance of prioritizing public welfare in transportation innovations. “Filipinos are always on the move—at any given time, someone is traveling from point A to point B. This year’s theme, Moving People, Transforming Communities, resonates deeply,” he said. “Public transportation must not be an alternative but a primary choice. Let’s serve the public first and truly listen to the people we aim to help.”

Tulfo also emphasized that the best transportation systems worldwide are built on making public transport the go-to option, citing it as a benchmark for industry improvements in the Philippines.

Secretary Bautista highlighted the far-reaching impact of transport infrastructure on local economies. “Road projects create jobs, support livelihoods, and keep Filipino families together without the need to seek work abroad. Their benefits ripple across communities—supporting markets, schools, hospitals, and businesses while attracting major investments,” Bautista explained.

He praised MPTC’s contributions, stating, “Partners like Metro Pacific Tollways enable us to achieve world-class infrastructure with efficiency and quality. They elevate government projects to global standards, accelerating progress nationwide.”

The 3rd Transport Con reinforced MPTC’s role as a leader in advancing national development through modern, inclusive, and sustainable transportation systems. By fostering dialogue and collaboration among industry stakeholders, MPTC continues to pave the way for transformative change in the country’s transport landscape.

With a clear focus on community-centered innovation, MPTC’s initiatives highlight its unwavering dedication to improving the lives of Filipinos and driving the nation forward.
