The MRT-3 will continue its extended weekday operations indefinitely, following positive public feedback and a directive from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon. The decision comes after a successful two-week pilot test, which served a total of 61,004 passengers during the additional operating hour.
From March 24 to March 28, 29,530 passengers utilized the extended service, while 31,474 passengers benefitted from the added hour from March 31 to April 4.
In addition to the extended operating hours, the MRT-3 will also maintain an extra train set during peak hours to improve travel conditions for commuters, particularly for those working evening shifts.
The last train trips on weekdays will now depart one hour later, with services running until 10:30 PM from North Avenue Station and until 11:09 PM from Taft Avenue Station. These changes are part of ongoing efforts to enhance convenience for commuters and meet the needs of more passengers.
