Mabalacat City Government completes Basic Incident Command System Training

The Mabalacat City Government, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM) Council, has successfully concluded a three-day Basic Incident Command System (ICS) 1 Training aimed at enhancing the city’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities.

The training, held in Baguio City, featured a series of modules that covered essential aspects of incident management, including organizational structure, resource management, and effective communication during emergencies. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises and simulations designed to prepare them for real-life disaster scenarios.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo also actively participated in the training, underscoring the importance of equipping local leaders and responders with the necessary skills to handle emergencies effectively.

MCG expressed his gratitude to the trainers certified by the Office of the Civil Defense, and the secretariat of CDRRMO headed by Jeffrey Santos for their dedication and hard work in facilitating the training. “Your commitment to building a safer community is commendable. Together, we are strengthening our capacity to respond to disasters and protect our citizens,” he stated.

Another notable participant in the training was Councilor Timothy Dee, who is very well known as an active responder during calamities in Central Luzon.

The Basic ICS 1 Training is part of a ladderized approach to disaster management education, focusing the need for continuous learning and skill enhancement among responders. By progressing through subsequent ICS courses, participants will deepen their understanding of incident command and improve the city’s overall disaster response framework.
