In a special session by the 4th Sangguniang Panlungsod, Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo shared a comprehensive overview of the city’s achievements and ongoing initiatives in his State Of The City Address held at Tabnuan Cultural and Heritage Center. Themed “Pananatili ng Pag-unlad, Pagpapalakas ng Ciudad” (Sustaining Progress, Strengthening the City), Mayor Garbo emphasized the theme of unity and progress throughout his address.

The Mayor expressed his gratitude to the Sangguniang Panlungsod presided by Vice Mayor Gerald Guttrie Aquino, the barangay captains, and the department and unit heads of the LGU for their continuous support and collaboration in various endeavors aimed at improving the city’s quality of life. He highlighted the successful implementation of health programs, social welfare initiatives, educational support, and infrastructure projects that have positively impacted the city.

Under Mayor Garbo’s leadership, Mabalacat City has made significant strides in healthcare, with tangible and comprehensive programs focusing on immunization, maternal and child health, disease prevention, and specialized care for conditions such as TB and HIV/AIDS. The city has been recognized with awards for its excellence in public health programs and services.

Furthermore, the MCG emphasized the city’s commitment to social welfare and development, with initiatives such as financial assistance programs, livelihood support for vulnerable groups, and services for women and children in need of protection. The LGU’s efforts have been acknowledged through various awards and certifications, showcasing its dedication to upholding the welfare of all Mabalaqueños.

In the realm of education, Mayor Garbo highlighted the city’s initiatives to promote learning and skills development, particularly through programs tailored for out-of-school youth, returning students, and academic achievers. The success of the Mabalacat City College in international rankings and awards also displayed the city’s efforts to providing quality education and innovative programs.

“We emerge victorious at the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2024, clinching the prestigious Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year award among top contenders like Chiang Mai University, James Cook University, and National University of Singapore. Kaya naman ang mismong pangulo ng ating bansa na si President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. ay binanggit niya ang Mabalacat City College sa kanyang 2024 SONA,” said MCG.

Mayor Garbo also underscored the city’s progress in economic development, public infrastructure, disaster risk reduction, environmental conservation, and cultural promotion.

“Naging matagumpay rin ang implementation of 20% development fund mula 2023 hanggang sa kasalukuyan dahil nagawa natin ang 21 road rehabilitation and construction in vital areas; 19 drainage rehabilitation and construction; flood control construction near rivers; 2 citywide illumination projects; and procurement needed for the expansion of services in the city including 4 ambulances, 1 rescue vehicle and 2 garbage trucks,” Garbo furthered.
