Mayor Pogi distributes SPES allowances

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. on February 1, 2024 led the distribution of Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) allowances to 256 underprivileged but deserving students, who received P1,000 each.

Mayor Lazatin was with Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, and Chief Adviser IC Calaguas during the distribution.

The SPES program is Department of Labor and Employment’s youth employment-bridging program which aims to provide assistance to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers during summer to augment the family’s income to help ensure that beneficiaries are able to pursue their education.

SPES is a bridging mechanism that enables student-beneficiaries to gain skills and workplace experience at the same time.

Personnel from the Public Employment Services Officer (PESO), headed by Ferdinand Calma, and Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, led by Irish Bonus-Llego, assisted Mayor Lazatin during the distribution of allowances.
