Mayor Susan Yap joined fellow local chief executives under the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) in a dialogue aimed at aligning concrete measures and support for the agriculture sector, with the goal of boosting production, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and ensuring food security.
The meeting, held Friday morning, brought together mayors with Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Laurel Jr. and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform. Discussions focused on pressing concerns raised by local governments and the need to synchronize national programs with on-the-ground realities in cities and municipalities.

Mayor Yap emphasized the importance of direct coordination between national leaders and local governments to deliver timely and effective assistance to farmers. She noted that sustained collaboration is key to building a more resilient agricultural sector that supports both producers and consumers.
M4GG expressed appreciation to the mayors who attended and to Secretary Laurel and Senator Pangilinan for their commitment to listening to local concerns and recommendations. The group said the dialogue underscored a shared resolve to improve governance and ensure that agriculture policies are responsive to grassroots needs.
Participants agreed to continue working together to strengthen food production systems and advance people-centered, good governance initiatives across local communities.
