Minalin welcomes the New Year in color, unity, and tradition with 93rd Aguman Sanduk

As the first day of 2026 dawned, the streets of Minalin once again came alive with color, music, and laughter as the town celebrated the 93rd Aguman Sanduk, a New Year tradition that has defined the spirit of Minaleños for nearly a century.

Leading the opening of the festivities on January 1 were Mayor Philip S. Naguit and Board Member Kaye Naguit, joined by local officials, guests, and thousands of residents who gathered to witness the town’s most anticipated cultural showcase.

For 93 years, Aguman Sanduk has marked the New Year in Minalin with a celebration unlike any other. All 15 barangays took part in the festivities, each presenting creatively designed, themed floats that rolled through the town’s main streets. Accompanying the parade were male performers dressed in women’s attire, dancing to lively music—a playful yet deeply rooted tradition symbolizing equality, unity, and communal joy.

Adding grace to the celebration was Councilor Genie Magat, crowned as Reyna ng Aguman Sanduk, who joined the procession alongside town officials and representatives from the barangays.

More than a festival, Aguman Sanduk remains a living expression of Minalin’s identity—where humor, artistry, and inclusivity blend into a celebration of togetherness. As it enters its 93rd year, the tradition continues to unite generations of Minaleños, welcoming each New Year with pride, creativity, and a shared sense of belonging.
