Designer Cholo Ayuyao, who hand crafts the Mutya Ning Angeles crowns, describes this year’s MNA crown as a symbol of the ‘shining’ administration of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.
Called a ‘star’ or ‘Batuin’ in Kapampangan, the crown is also a symbol of direction — the festive Paskung Kapampangan and its seemingly enigmatic faint luminosity that hides its true power and shine.
“This is our meaning behind the MNA 2023 crown,” Ayuyao said, adding “The crown will have the unmistakable angles of a star, elaborated with red crystals, Rhinestones and zircon gems.”
Ayuyao, who has been in the fashion and arts industry for 20 years now, said that Mayor Lazatin’s support to local fashion and art, including ‘Batuin’ encourages Angeleños to be the best that they can be.
“I am thankful to the administration of Mayor Lazatin and the MNA working committee led by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel for constantly supporting us through your programs,” Ayuyao said.
The Mutya Ning Angeles 2023 grand coronation night is set on November 30, 2023 at the Grand Palazzo Royale. This is another priority project of Mayor Lazatin, co-presented by the Beautéderm Corporation led by President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche-Tan.
