The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) calls on Tarlac residents to submit proposals for its 2024 Competitive Grants Program.

National Committee on Northern Cultural Communities Head Arwin Lingat said focused programs for Northern Luzon Communities include Inventorying of Intangible Cultural Heritage (six slots), Capacity Building For Local Community Researchers (six slots), Knowledge Transfer on Buhay na Dunong or Intangible Cultural Heritage for Indigenous Peoples Youth (five slots), and Publication of Monographs on Northern Cultural Communities (six slots).

Also, Consultation or Forum on Local Cultural Policies for Indigenous Peoples Lawyers, Community Leaders, and Culture Advocates (two slots); and Profiling of Cultural Masters and Specialists in Northern Communities (four slots).

โ€œCivil society organizations; peoples organizations; indigenous peoples organizations; individuals; local government units; national government agencies (NGAs); state universities and colleges (SUCs); and public schools are welcome to apply for one project per year,โ€ he added.

Applicants must be accredited to be eligible for the competitive grants to assure the legitimacy of the individual or organization in implementing culture-related programs.

โ€œFor accreditation, applicants may submit their accreditation requirements together with their arts and culture project proposals on or before August 31, 2023,โ€ Lingat furthered.

Municipal and city governments may partner with the provincial government through the Tarlac Tourism Office or other NGAs and SUCs for their proposed projects.

Tarlac Tourism Head Arsenio Lugay II expressed his gratitude to NCCA for bringing in the province of Tarlac various programs for culture and the arts.

โ€œWe thank the NCCA for extending to us the initiatives of the commission in strengthening our cultural heritage and identity as Tarlaqueรฑos, and recognizing the talents of our artists in the province,โ€ Lugay said.

The province will be hosting the Luzon Art Fair, a NCCA funded event, this October 2023. (PIA 3)
