NEUST, Santo Domingo LGU ink 50-year deal for campus expansion

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) and the municipal government of Santo Domingo have signed a 50-year usufruct agreement granting the university use of the old municipal complex as the temporary site of its new campus.

The 5,105-square-meter property, formerly the old municipal hall, includes the municipal building, Senior Citizen Building, Rural Health Unit, ABC Hall, Municipal Gymnasium, Office of the Municipal Administrator, and Department of Agriculture Building. NEUST will also be allowed to build additional facilities to meet academic and operational needs.

NEUST President Rhodora Jugo lauded the LGU’s support, saying, “By allowing the university to expand its presence in Santo Domingo, you are planting the seeds of knowledge that will surely bear fruit in the future.”

Santo Domingo Campus Director Marlon Rufino emphasized the campus’s role as a future training ground for teachers, engineers, business leaders, and public servants, while Mayor Leonido De Guzman expressed gratitude to NEUST and the Sangguniang Bayan for making higher education more accessible to the town’s youth.

The partnership aims to boost access to quality education, promote local development, and enhance public service in Santo Domingo and nearby areas. (PIA 3)
