The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced a slight decrease in overall transmission rates for end consumers this October, following lower charges for ancillary services and transmission wheeling.
For the September 2025 billing period, the average transmission rate declined by 1.23%, from ₱1.4171/kWh in August to ₱1.3998/kWh.
NGCP said the reduction was driven by decreases in both key components:
〽️ Transmission wheeling rates, or the cost of delivering electricity through the grid, dropped by 0.84%, from ₱0.5970/kWh to ₱0.5920/kWh.
〽️ Ancillary Services (AS) rates, which pay for power reserves that stabilize the grid, went down by 1.70%, from ₱0.6659/kWh to ₱0.6546/kWh.
“For the October 2025 electric bill of end consumers, NGCP charges only 59 centavos per kilowatt-hour for the delivery of its services,” the company said, noting that AS charges still make up the largest portion of transmission costs.
NGCP clarified that it does not earn from AS rates, as these are directly remitted to power generators and are unaffected by price fluctuations.
