NLEX Corporation, in partnership with the City Government of Valenzuela, has officially begun construction of the new Lingunan Southbound Entry ramp last month.
This new 491-meter entry ramp, which is expected to be completed by April, will provide motorists with an additional access point to NLEX from Brgy. Lingunan, in the southbound direction.
The new ramp aims to help alleviate traffic congestion on local roads in Valenzuela.
“As Valenzuela continues to grow, the construction of this new entry ramp will further bolster the city’s position as a thriving industrial and commercial hub. Our goal at MPTC and NLEX is to support that growth by improving traffic flow and creating better access,” said Arrey Perez, President and COO of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation. “This public-private partnership will ease traffic congestion by offering an alternative entry point for motorists at the Paso de Blas Interchange,” he added.
Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian expressed his support for the project, emphasizing its positive impact on the mobility of goods and people.
“The new southbound entry at Brgy. Lingunan will provide motorists with an alternative route, easing traffic congestion in key areas such as Lawang Bato, Punturin, Maysan, Paso de Blas, and the East Service Road. We are excited to collaborate with NLEX and TRB on these important traffic solutions for the benefit of all road users,” Mayor Gatchalian said.
To accommodate the construction, the Lingunan Southbound Exit was temporarily closed for one month. During this period, traffic management and safety protocols were implemented to ensure the safety of motorists and minimize delays. Road signs and warning devices were also placed to guide drivers.
The exit was officially reopened on February 10.Over the years, NLEX has worked closely with the City Government of Valenzuela to improve the travel experience for residents and commuters.
In 2010, NLEX provided new entry and exit options from the east of Valenzuela, via Mindanao Avenue. The Karuhatan Toll Plaza for westbound traffic was introduced in 2015. In 2017, the Lingunan Southbound Exit was opened, offering an alternative route to northern Valenzuela. This was followed by the Mapulang Lupa Overpass and the Lawang Bato Northbound Exit in 2019.NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
