No Christmas solicitations, gifts for CL cops

Police Regional Office 3 Regional Director PBGen Jose S Hidalgo Jr. delivered a strong message on Monday, December 18 cautioning police personnel against soliciting and accepting gifts during the holiday season.

Hidalgo emphasized the need for strict adherence to ethical standards, particularly during these challenging times when many are grappling with financial difficulties due to job losses and business setbacks.

Acknowledging the well-intentioned desire of some to reciprocate the police force’s efforts, he stressed the importance of refraining from solicitation. He expressed empathy for the economic challenges faced by the community and urged the police force to celebrate Christmas without resorting to soliciting gifts.

The Central Luzon police chief highlighted the potential consequences for personnel engaged in such activities, stating that they would face severe administrative and criminal charges under provisions related to graft and corrupt practices.

He also underlined that solicitation is expressly prohibited under Presidential Decree 46, and strict measures will be implemented against any PNP personnel found violating this prohibition. He extended the prohibition to the acceptance of any form of “token of gratitude” and encouraged the public to avoid offering gifts to the police as a demonstration of appreciation.

PBGen Hidalgo’s directive aligns with the goal of maintaining the integrity and professionalism of the PNP during the holiday season and beyond.
