OFF-DUTY COP RESPONDS TO HOME ROBBERY IN PAMPANGA; SUSPECT KILLED IN ENCOUNTER

A suspected robber was shot dead early Friday morning after an encounter with an off-duty police officer in Malinoville Subdivision, Barangay Malino, Mexico, Pampanga.

Initial police reports indicate that at around 3:45 AM, the suspect scaled a metal fence and broke into the residence of a 36-year-old driver identified as “Mr. DJ.”

The break-in was witnessed by 56-year-old Mr. Zabat, who alerted his son, Pat Ray Lemuel Zabat, 29, a police officer living nearby.

Awakened by the disturbance, the homeowner caught the suspect allegedly stealing two mobile phones—a blue Vivo and a black Redmi. As the intruder attempted to flee, he was intercepted by Pat Zabat.

During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly drew a firearm, prompting the off-duty officer to respond. A single gunshot struck the suspect in the abdomen, killing him instantly.

Authorities are working to identify the suspect and determine whether he has ties to other criminal activities in the area.

Police Regional Office 3 Director PBGen Jean S. Fajardo commended the swift response of the off-duty officer, stating:

“This incident highlights the courage and dedication of our police officers who remain committed to protecting the public—even off the clock. PRO3 continues to strive for peace and order. We urge citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.”
