Philippine Airlines (PAL) has begun rolling out its newly refurbished Airbus A321ceo aircraft, featuring upgraded cabins designed for comfort, efficiency, and a distinctly Filipino touch. The first reconfigured jet, RP-C9905, was recently delivered after undergoing retrofitting at the Lufthansa Technik Philippines facility in Manila.
The fleet upgrade covers 18 A321ceo aircraft, to be completed between 2025 and 2027. Each plane will carry 194 passengers in a dual-class layout—12 in Business Class and 182 in Economy.
Business Class now offers a 2-2 seat configuration with more privacy, enhanced storage, cocktail tables, and power outlets, complemented by 13.3” in-flight entertainment screens. Economy Class features Collins Pinnacle seats in a 3-3 layout, each equipped with a 10.1” entertainment screen and USB-A charging ports.
A milestone of the program is the use of Collins seats manufactured in Batangas by Filipino workers—the first time a Philippine airline has installed locally made aircraft seats.
“This cabin retrofit program reflects PAL’s vision of world-class excellence and heartfelt care,” said PAL Vice President for Marketing Alvin Miranda. “At the core of this undertaking is the craftsmanship of Filipino workers who helped bring this project to life.”
The reconfigured A321ceos will initially serve routes to Tokyo (Haneda and Narita), Osaka, Jakarta, Bali, and Guam, with more Asian destinations to follow next year.
Through this retrofit initiative, PAL underscores its commitment to delivering a world-class passenger experience while showcasing Filipino skill and innovation in aviation.
