The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and EcoWaste Coalition have renewed their appeal for a fireworks-free New Year’s Eve, warning that the use of pyrotechnics endangers animals, people, and the environment.

On Sunday, December 28, pet owners and their animals joined a short parade inside Ayala Malls Vertis North in Quezon City to remind the public of the harmful effects of loud and toxic celebrations. Organizers said fireworks can cause severe stress, trauma, and injury among pets and stray animals, while also posing health and environmental risks to communities.
The groups urged the public to choose safer and more responsible ways of welcoming the New Year, emphasizing that celebrations need not be noisy or hazardous to be meaningful. (PNA)
