The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reaffirmed its strict enforcement of the Anti-Hazing Law, warning that hazing in any form is strictly prohibited within the organization and punishable under Philippine law.
In a statement, PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that under Republic Act 8049, as amended by Republic Act 11053, any act that inflicts physical or psychological harm, injury, or suffering during initiation or welcoming rites is illegal.
The PNP said it continues to implement a zero-tolerance policy against hazing, adding that personnel who participate in, organize, or facilitate such acts will face administrative sanctions, including possible dismissal from service, as well as criminal charges when warranted.
All PNP units have been directed to strictly enforce anti-hazing policies, conduct close monitoring during training and initiation periods, and immediately report and address any suspected violations.
The PNP said these measures form part of its commitment to uphold discipline, professionalism, and respect for human dignity within the organization, stressing that hazing has no place in the police force and that violators will be held accountable without exception.
The statement forms part of the PNP’s broader campaign under the banner, “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
