Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla assured that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will provide security support during the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) inspections of major flood-control projects.

Remulla explained that while the PNP has no role in the technical evaluation of infrastructure, their presence is crucial due to threats faced by inspection teams.

“Sa security side lang kami. Wala kaming alam sa forensic infrastructure pero marami kasing threat sa mga tao, so kasama kami sa mga tumutulong,” he said.

The secretary stressed that police officers are deployed round-the-clock to safeguard DPWH personnel as they conduct site visits.

The DILG vowed continued coordination with DPWH and other concerned agencies to ensure transparency, accountability, and safety in the implementation of flood-control projects nationwide.
