The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has expressed full support for the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) relaunch of the Media Security Vanguards program, an initiative that strengthens collaboration between law enforcement and the media in the pursuit of public safety, responsible reporting, and press freedom.
The program was officially relaunched on April 8, 2025, aiming to create stronger, more transparent communication channels between police units and media professionals, while ensuring the protection of journalists in the line of duty.
“This relaunch highlights our continuing commitment to work side by side with the media as partners in nation-building. We recognize the vital role that journalists play in keeping the public informed, and we are committed to supporting them, especially when their safety is at risk,” said PBGEN Jean S. Fajardo, Regional Director of PRO3.
Under the initiative, media practitioners are encouraged to report threats, harassment, or any form of danger encountered in the course of their work. PRO3 assures swift response and protection to uphold press freedom and safety.
The Media Security Vanguards will serve as a platform for continuous dialogue, mutual support, and shared advocacy between law enforcement and the media sector, further promoting a secure and informed society.
