PRO3 heightens security measures for Holy Week 2025

To ensure a safe and peaceful observance of Holy Week, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has deployed over 1,000 police personnel across Central Luzon from April 13 to 20, 2025.

PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Jean S. Fajardo said the move comes in preparation for the expected surge of travelers in terminals and crowds in churches and pilgrimage sites, particularly on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

“I have ordered the maximum deployment of our personnel and activated support units to safeguard the public during this sacred time,” Fajardo said.

Community support is also key, with volunteer groups such as Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) and local radio networks working alongside the police to strengthen emergency response capabilities.

Foot and mobile patrols have been intensified in high-traffic areas, while Police Assistance Desks and Centers have been set up in key locations. Road safety marshals are stationed at major bus terminals, airports, seaports, and recreational areas.

Even before the peak of Semana Santa, PRO3 personnel were already deployed as early as Palm Sunday to ensure the security of churches and chapels across the region.

“Holy Week is a time for reflection. Our role as public servants is to make sure the faithful can observe it in peace and solemnity,” Fajardo added.
