PRO3 honors wounded police officer, extends support for recovery

Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Regional Director PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. personally visited Police Staff Sergeant Jake Jacinto of the Bongabon Municipal Police Station to extend financial assistance after the officer was injured during an armed encounter on February 17, 2026.

PSSg Jacinto sustained injuries while responding to a robbery incident that led to a dragnet operation and confrontation with fleeing suspects. In recognition of his bravery, he was awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting, a Philippine National Police honor for personnel who demonstrate courage in the line of duty.

Aside from the personal financial support extended by PBGEN Peñones Jr., additional assistance was provided by the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. (PSMBFI) to aid in the officer’s recovery.

The activity underscores the PNP’s ongoing focus on personnel welfare and morale, ensuring that officers who risk their lives in service to the community receive recognition, support, and institutional care. PRO3 remains committed to intensifying anti-criminality operations while safeguarding the well-being of its personnel.
