In a proactive approach to disaster readiness, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), conducted in the afternoon of September 7, 2023.
PRO3 Director PBGEN Jose S Hidalgo Jr. emphasized that this earthquake drill serves as a quarterly exercise aimed at enhancing the awareness, preparedness, and readiness of PRO3 personnel and other camp occupants in the event of an actual earthquake.
Meanwhile, Regional Staff Chief Pcol Reynaldo Ogay Jr., who spearheaded the activity, said that the primary focus of the drill is to educate participants on the safest response to an earthquake, which includes the “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” protocol.
The exercise commenced with a one-minute siren blast, prompting all PNP personnel and other employees to promptly drop to the ground, seek cover under their desks, and hold on to them. Subsequently, participants evacuated the buildings, maintaining safety by covering their heads to shield against potential falling objects. They exited in an orderly single file fashion, making their way to the designated evacuation area, the Parade Ground situated in front of the Admin Building, all while avoiding causing panic during an earthquake event.
Approximately 500 PNP personnel, other employees, and elementary school students within the camp actively participated in this vital drill, reaffirming PRO3’s commitment to safeguarding lives in the face of natural disasters.
