The Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) took a significant step forward in advancing agricultural development by formalizing partnerships with agri-tech platform MAYANI and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). A partnership ceremony was held at the University Food Center’s VIP Room to solidify these agreements, which align with PSAU’s commitment to enhancing agricultural innovation in the region.
MAYANI, represented by co-founders Mr. JT Solis and Mr. Ochie San Juan, introduced its comprehensive agri-tech platform that has gained recognition for bridging smallholder farmers and fisherfolk with wider market opportunities. The platform has been pivotal in overcoming traditional market barriers that have long hindered agricultural producers, allowing them to access a broader customer base.
In addition, the DTI, through its provincial office, represented by Mr. Emil Paolo Galang, Senior Trade and Industry Specialist, committed to establishing a Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) at PSAU. This collaboration is aimed at boosting the university’s technological infrastructure and research capabilities, offering students and faculty valuable tools for innovation.
PSAU President Dr. Anita David emphasized the significance of the partnerships, stating, “As an educational institution, we work hard to put the industry within the university for us to contribute to the development of the nation.” She highlighted the potential impact the agreements would have on agricultural production, research, and training in the region.
Following the signing ceremony, a field demonstration of innovative aquaculture technology was conducted at the REACH Integrated Farm by representatives from the Office of Innovation (OOI), led by Director Walter Pacunana, in collaboration with MAYANI. The demonstration showcased cutting-edge advancements in aquaculture, further emphasizing PSAU’s commitment to agricultural development and research. (PSAU)
