The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) have formalized their partnership for the establishment of the John Hay Sports Center at Camp John Hay.
The project aims to strengthen training opportunities for Filipino athletes, aligning with the administration of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in maximizing the use of government land and facilities while stimulating local economic growth.

Under the agreement, BCDA will allocate approximately 6,000 square meters within Camp John Hay for the development of the sports center. The facility’s design draws inspiration from the mountains of the Cordillera and Baguio’s terraced landscape, reflecting the steady and progressive journey of athletes—from grassroots beginnings to elite competition.

BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang said the project underscores the agency’s commitment to building future champions by providing athletes with a supportive and high-quality training environment. He emphasized that investing in modern sports infrastructure will help the next generation of Filipino athletes reach their full potential and compete on the global stage.
The John Hay Sports Center will provide national athletes with access to quality indoor venues for futsal, floorball, mixed martial arts, netball, handball, and other sports. Beyond elite training, the facility is also envisioned to serve as a hub for recreational sports and grassroots development within the Baguio community.
PSC Chairman John Patrick “Pato” Gregorio highlighted that the center will strengthen national training programs while generating sustainable revenue to support Regional Training Centers across the country. He added that the facility reinforces Baguio’s reputation as a breeding ground for champions and a key pillar in the country’s sports development ecosystem.
BCDA will oversee the construction of the facility, which is targeted for completion within 18 months. The agency will manage the bidding process for the design-and-build contractor, as well as for the future private partner that will operate and manage the center.
The PSC earlier released ₱150 million in December 2025 as initial funding and committed to provide the full ₱500 million project cost within the term of the agreement. Upon completion, the facility will be formally turned over to the PSC, which will operate and maintain the sports center under a separate usufruct agreement.
The initiative builds on the continuing collaboration between BCDA and PSC to advance Philippine sports development. Since 2025, both agencies have been working on plans for additional training facilities in New Clark City, including a Philippine Tennis Center, while maximizing existing venues to support Filipino athletes.
