Palace honors Singson’s resignation from ICI over health reasons

Malacañang on Thursday, December 4, 2025, expressed respect for former Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson’s decision to resign from the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) due to health concerns.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro acknowledged that the ICI’s demanding workload—including daily hearings on anomalous flood control projects and extensive documentation—likely contributed to Singson’s decision. She stressed that the resignation should not be politicized, emphasizing that it was solely motivated by health reasons.

Castro also noted that Singson plans to continue sharing his expertise with the DPWH, particularly on the flood control master plan he initiated. She assured that the ICI remains fully capable of continuing its work under the leadership of retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., and defended the commission’s respectful approach to questioning witnesses and resource persons.

“Marami pa rin pong magaling na nandyan po sa ICI, hindi naman po maapektuhan ito,” Castro said, highlighting the commission’s ability to operate effectively despite Singson’s departure. (PNA)
