Pampanga Food Security Complex set to open this year

The Pampanga Food (Rice) Complex in Barangay Sta. Catalina, Lubao is set to open within the year, marking a major step toward strengthening food security and boosting support for local farmers in the province.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda recently led an inspection of the ongoing construction of the food complex, together with Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Chiu.

The Provincial Government allocated more than ₱270 million for site development, road concreting, and the construction of the rice complex. The Department of Agriculture also provided ₱50 million for the procurement of machinery and equipment.

As part of the project support, PhilMech provided two rice mills and five circulating dryers, along with additional farm equipment including six tractors, four harvesters, and four precision seeders to further assist farmers once the facility becomes operational.

Installation of equipment at the facility is currently ongoing.

The project aims to help eliminate the role of middlemen, improve the livelihood of Pampanga farmers, and further strengthen rice production and overall food security in the province.
