This year’s Holy Week observance across Central Luzon was marked by peace, solemnity, and strong community collaboration, according to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), led by Regional Director PBGEN Jean S. Fajardo.
Thousands of devotees gathered at churches, pilgrimage sites, and joined religious processions across the region. PRO3 attributed the smooth and orderly conduct of the week-long activities to the collective efforts of the public, local government units, religious organizations, and volunteer force multipliers.
“Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the public for their discipline and to our partners for their unwavering support. Their collective effort ensured the safe and solemn commemoration of Holy Week in the region,” said PBGEN Fajardo.

Despite the generally peaceful atmosphere, PRO3 recorded nine drowning incidents in the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales involving 12 individuals—seven of whom tragically lost their lives. Three separate vehicular accidents were also reported in Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Bataan, resulting in injuries. All cases are currently under investigation.
PBGEN Fajardo expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and reminded the public to prioritize safety during holidays and recreational outings.
“As we commend the peaceful observance of Semana Santa, we must also remind everyone that safety must never take a back seat—whether in prayer, on the road, or by the water,” she stressed.
With the Lenten season coming to a close and travelers expected to return home in droves, PRO3 urges motorists and commuters to plan their trips carefully, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and adhere strictly to traffic rules to prevent accidents and delays.
PRO3 reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety, especially with the anticipated surge in tourist activity throughout the summer months.
