Carlos Yulo received yet another multi-million bonus for his historic 2024 Paris Olympics run, this time from global port management firm International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI).
Represented by executive vice president Christian Gonzalez, ICTSI gave PHP10 million to the double-gold gymnast in a ceremony at the Waterside Restobar of Solaire Resort in Parañaque City on Friday.
“Super overwhelming and unexpected. Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nakakataas talaga na tumutulong and nakitaan ‘yung mga hard work namin and ‘yung mga pinag-praktisan namin ng mahabang panahon, nabibigyan po nila ng ganoong parangal (I thank the higher-ups who are helping and seeing our hard work and they gave honor to everything that we practiced for a long time),” Yulo, who arrived from the Paris Paralympics on Thursday, said.
Also present were Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino, gymnastics president Cynthia Carrion-Norton and other Philippine team members to Paris, including bronze medalists Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio.
Both female boxers received PHP2 million each from ICTSI.
The rest of the Philippine team did not leave empty-handed as ICTSI gave them PHP200,000 each as well.
“On behalf ng mga kasamahan ko na non-medalists, kahit papaano, nakita nila at na-appreciate pa rin ang hard work namin. Thank you so much sa ICTSI at kay Sir Enrique na nagbigay pa rin ng incentives para sa amin (of my fellow non-medalists, somehow, they saw and appreciated our hard work. Thank you so much to ICTSI and sir Enrique who still gave us incentives),” Eumir Marcial, whose early exit in the Round of 16 stunned, the boxing community, said. (PNA)
