President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with top executives of DAMAC Digital on Tuesday to discuss the company’s planned investments in the Philippines, including the establishment of a major data center in Laguna.
The meeting took place at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Abu Dhabi, with President Marcos accompanied by key Cabinet officials, including Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, ICT Secretary Henry Aguda, Finance Acting Secretary Frederick Go, PCO Acting Secretary Dave Gomez, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ver, and Special Envoy Kathryna Yu-Pimentel.
President Marcos and DAMAC Digital founder and chairman Hussain Sajwani discussed opportunities for collaboration in the country’s digital infrastructure sector, highlighting the Philippines’ potential as a hub for data centers, cloud services, and AI-driven technologies. The planned investment will establish the largest data center in the country, positioning the Philippines as a key regional player in digital infrastructure.
The President assured DAMAC Digital of high-priority support, noting the strategic importance of their investment in advancing the Philippines’ digital economy.
The business meeting was part of President Marcos’ two-day working visit to Abu Dhabi, which included his participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026 and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
DAMAC Digital, the data center and digital infrastructure arm of Dubai-based DAMAC Group, was originally launched in 2021 as EDGNEX Data Centres and rebranded in June 2025. The company operates in 11 countries, providing hyperscale wholesale, colocation, cloud, and AI-ready data centers, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and global connectivity.
As part of its Southeast Asia expansion, DAMAC Digital has committed over US$3 billion in investments, targeting 250 MW of operational capacity in the region by 2026.
